We want to meet everyone casually, hear concerns, and hopefully find ways to make the Climb better. 

We aren’t going to have a big presentation and we don’t intend on taking wasting your time. We would like to listen to what everyone needs and we want to tell about our inclusion into Via Mobility ( Special Transit )

The Climb is proud to host free transportation to this event, helping spread the word about earth day and this incredible community “Resource.”

The Center For ReSource Conservation ( conservationcenter.org) Not only has an immense reclaimed building materials yard, a tool rental library with almost everything imaginable, and energy audits, they also have many programs to conserve water and waste. Be sure to take a look at their Garden In A Box for dry landscapes.

The Climb is very proud to provide transportation for Green House Scholars (http://www.greenhousescholars.org/) and their leadership activities just before the semester starts. Exceptional college students ( meaning able to enroll at MIT, play football and still find time to volunteer( from difficult backgrounds in Colorado are giving scholarships and leadership support. The Green House Scholar Program finds that students with ability and desire need mentors and support to make the most of a college experience .

This Sunday is the Venus De Miles (http://www.venusdemiles.com/#903803/Cause) female bicycle event which raises about $150,000 for the cause. There are many kids who need the continuing tuition support to become our next leaders.  Again the Climb is very proud to offer our vehicle and driver for the benefit of this program.

The Climb is reviewing its Fall/Winter schedule and would like to know if you have students who attend Boulder High, Casey Middle School or The Watershed School and if they may want to ride The Climb either regularly or occasionally.

Currently The Climb leaves Gold Hill at 7 a.m. to arrive at RTD Station by 7:40 am. On return, it leaves RTD at 7:45 and stops at the old Watershed at 7:50 to pick up Gold Hill bound students.

We will consider modifying the times to accommodate a loop to Casey & Watershed if there is enough interest. Please contact Phill Carter at 303-715-8417 or email him via The-Climb.com website with your interest.

Bus Birding

Riding the bus has never gotten more interesting, neither has birding! By combining the two, Bus Birding is born. Conceived and designed by Brian D. Collier, Bus Birding is a new art-science-transportation project created for the Long JUMP route that runs primarily along Arapahoe Avenue in Boulder County. The project transforms buses and bus stops into bird watching sites for the bus riding community and novice bird watchers. It also encourages experienced birders to start riding the bus to their bird watching sites.

Beginning Saturday, August 13 and running through the end of the year, several Bus Birding activities for the entire family will include bird watching bus tours on the JUMP with City of Boulder Open Space naturalist Dave Sutherland, a presentation on CU’s barn swallow studies, a Bus Birding walk, a “flock of writers” reading about all things avian, and Bird Shift: The Anthropogenic Ornithology of North America, an exhibition created by nationally recognized visual artist, educator and “ re-naturalist ” Brian D. Collier in collaboration with Boulder-based scientists, birders, transportation specialists, and others.

36 Commuting Solutions | Enhancing mobility along the U.S. 36 Corridor

The City of Boulder is applying for a federal grant to add wi-fi technology to regional RTD buses serving Boulder.  With wi-fi, commuters can access the internet, email and perform work tasks during their commute.  The City of Boulder would like to know if there are employers in Boulder that would allow their employees to “clock in” during their daily commute on RTD buses.  By “clocking in” we mean that any time spent doing work tasks while on the bus would count as part of the employee’s paid work hours.
Please let us know if this is something that your employer is already doing, would consider, or would not consider if wi-fi were available on regional RTD buses.

Bike To Work Day 2011

On Wednesday, June 22nd, DR COG (Denver Regional Council of Governments) and the City of Boulder are hosting a huge Bike to Work Day 2011 event.

Join the fun! Registration is now open. The Climb can take you and your bike to town and back. Or, once in town, try out one of the new red Boulder B-Cycles.

Click on the DR COG link below to register and ride your bike wherever you are going on June 22nd. This major event includes breakfast stations, prizes, t-shirts, and more.

While Bike to Work Day 2011 is a one-day event, Walk & Bike Month is celebrated throughout the month June. The Climb has plenty of room for you and your bike. It may just become a healthy habit!

Morning All!

The Gold Hill school’s back up flood plan as it pertains to The-Climb is as follows:
If we have to turn around in going down Four Mile Canyon/Gold Run Road due to flooding or debris that makes the road impassable, the school wants us to call
GH School 303 245 5940, ask for Chrissy McCaul
or
Sue Kidder cell 720 401 1586
if we are in cell range.
Turn around.
Return to the school with the kids.
Please make sure you talk to someone, rather than just leaving a message.
They should have someone on call for approximately 20-25 minutes after school closes in case we need to turn around and bring all students back to the school where they will be cared for and taken to a designated parents home.  They will contact those parents.
We will need to show our change of plans on our website and or send an email alert to our riders.
I’m sending an email to our town list and the school to thank them for their support and again asking them to seek our website for updates as well as sign up for our email to receive up dates.
Today is another flood watch day designated by the Natl. Weather Service.
